Hans Folz, barber and Meistersinger

Hans Folz (1435–1513) was a Nuremberg surgeon, barber, and Meistersinger whose works can be classified in a variety of genres, from spoken-word poetry to prose to minstrelsy. The fact that Folz knew how to combine his various professions is evidenced by works with medical and scientific content, such as the bathing compendium Dises puchlein saget vns von allen paden die von natur heiß sein (about 1491). An anti-Semitic attitude is particularly evident in the Fastnachtspielen (Shrovetide plays)
