This drawing by the Dutch artist Jan Brandes (1743–1808) shows an envoy of the VOC to the Prince of Kandy, Sri Rajadi Raja Sinha. While the ruler is depicted at the very vanishing point of the picture on his throne, the envoys kneel before him at a great distance.
