Theatrum Anatomicum Berolinense around 1730

This copperplate engraving from around 1730 depicts a teaching dissection at the anatomical theatre in Berlin. The unopened cadaver is lying on a board, out of which a semi-circle has been cut on both sides to give the anatomist better access. The collection cabinets at the sides with their glass fronts are an indication of the intended complementary use of fresh cadavers and preserved specimens in teaching.
