The Flemish peasant wedding depicted by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (ca. 1525–1569) provides insights into the traditions of peasant feasting in the 16th century. Bread, soup, and porridge are visible on the tables, while beer is served as a drink. The bride is sitting under a green baldachin, and a group of musicians provide the entertainment for the guests.
