The Arms of the Dutch East India Company and of the Town of Batavia IMG

These shields show the arms of the Dutch East India Company. The left side is ornamented with Neptune and a mermaid, while the shield on the righthand side presents the arms of Batavia, flanked by Dutch lions. After its conquest by the Dutch in 1619 the city of Jacatra (now Jakarta, Indonesia) was renamed Batavia.
