The Agricultural Collective of Drakendorf

The socialist land reforms of the 20th century paved the way for the collectivization of agriculture in the respective states. This photograph shows the Landwirtschaftliche Produktionsgenossenschaft (Agricultural Collective) of Drakendorf engaged in spring sowing in 1953 in the GDR. The banner reads: "Good spring sowing leads to a rich harvest and increases the prosperity of the whole nation."
