Schloss Monplaisir in Peterhof, St. Petersburg

The Monplaisir (French: "my joy") Palace was built between 1714 and 1723 in the Dutch style. Located directly on the sea, it is considered to be the place most frequently visited by Peter the Great (1672–1725). He had Peterhof Palace constructed according to his own vision as well as on the model of Versailles Palace from 1715. Today Monplaisir houses a museum along with a collection of paintings.
