This etching from the 17th century shows the Irish national saint Patrick, who is said to have converted thousands of the Irish to Christianity in the 5th century. He is considered the founder of several churches and monasteries as well as schools. The Armagh Cathedral is regarded as the "Mother Church." Patrick was bishop from about 432 until his death in 461.
