From 1693 to 1718, the Swedish crown maintained a diplomatic representative at ambassadorial level in Paris, whose task it was to observe artistic developments in France and to report on them to the royal architect. The resulting influence in Sweden can be seen, for example, in the facade of the Royal Palace in Stockholm, which is reminiscent of the work of Mansart. The example of Louis XIV's Versailles also influenced the interior design.
