Pantheon Rom

This former Roman sacred site, which was consecrated as a church at the beginning of the 6th century, is one of the best-preserved ancient buildings in the world. The dome, which is considered one of the largest in classical antiquity, was a particularly prominent model for subsequent buildings, for example the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. Since the Renaissance, illustrious people have been laid to rest in the seven niches in the interior, including the painter Raffaello Sanzio (1483–1520).
