Mrs. Siddons as Lady Macbeth 1784

The English actress Sarah Siddons (1755–1831) excelled in many Shakespearean roles, especially in the role of Lady Macbeth as she is depicted here. Incidentially, she was also the first woman to play the role of Hamlet.
