Huldrych Zwingli was a dynamic leader of reform efforts in the early years of the Reformation in the significant Swiss city of Zurich. His vision of discipline emphasized the priority of the civil magistrates in administering discipline and ecclesiastical affairs, and represented the origins of the second major model of relating church discipline and civil affairs.
