Crimea

The company Intourist was founded in 1929. As the Soviet monopoly travel agent, it was supposed to attract foreign tourists in particular. Numerous hotels, restaurants, and travel offices were run by Intourist. In the 1930s, the company advertised holidays in the young ambitious Soviet Republic using colourful posters. This poster advertising the Crimea evoked images of Mediterranean sophistication, with sun, sea and strand.
