The craft skills of the Huguenots were highly respected throughout Europe, and this was one of the reasons why many rulers made efforts to induce Huguenots to settle in their countries. The Huguenots were often engaged in producing luxury items, such as these fine examples of gold-plated goblets, which were made by the Huguenot goldsmith David Willaume, who settled in England in 1687.
