Franciscan Convent San Miguel Arcángel in Huejotzingo (Mexico, 1570)

The Franciscan convent Huejotzingo is a mission monastery with fortified facade, atrium and open chapels (capilla posa). These architecturally and ornamentally unique square chapels with pyramidal roof, placed at the corner of the atrium, probably played a role in processions and served as places of catechetical instruction for the Indians.
