Enfilade Blenheim Palace

The enfilade is one of the hallmarks of the early modern court system. Long sequences of rooms based on the distinction of public and private eventually led to ever more private chambers of the ruler. Access to each space in the enfilade was regulated by an assigned officer of the court.
