The copper engraving from the 18th century shows work in the silver mine in Potosí, Bolivia. The wealth from silver led to a great increase in population in Potosí in the early 17th century. To this day, the city at the foot of the Cerro Rico (engl. rich mountain) depends on its silver and tin deposits.
