The "Workers' Pulmonary Hospital" (Arbeiter-Lungenheilstätten) in Beelitz/Brandenburg, about 50 km southwest of Berlin, established from 1898, served as a military hospital during the two world wars and subsequently formed the largest military hospital of the Red Army outside the USSR. Some parts have been reconstructed and reused as hospitals since the mid-1990s, while significant parts continue to decay. Thanks to their morbid charm, they have been used as filming locations for movies and television.
