Chinoise faience

This plate, made in Japanese Kakiemon style and painted with flowering branches and birds, comes from a Delft faience manufactory. Manufacturers in Delft produced imitation porcelain as early as the 17th century. As a result, they had a great influence not only on the European market, but also on the Chinese and Japanese markets, as manufacturers there adapted to Dutch customers and in turn copied the Delft style.
