This cartoon, published in the American satirical magazine Puck pokes fun at global imperial competition. The great powers, all depicted as animals are fighting over the cadaver in the centre representing China. From left to right: Japan, Russia, France, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Great Britain and Italy. The American eagle is observing the proceedings from his vantage point top left.
