"An English gentleman in the newest fashion" 1786

The late-18th century saw the publication of a number of fashion journals which used text and illustrations to inform their readers of the latest trends in clothing fashion. Among the most significant publications in Germany was the Journal des Luxus und der Moden, from which this drawing is taken.
