The painting by the British painter Alice Squire appears to show a governess in her attic room. The room is equipped with the essentials such as a small desk, a chair, a bathtub, and a washbasin. The space seems rather cramped; the bed has moved close to the fireplace. At the same time the interior with pictures, plants, and pets conveys a certain coziness.
