Christ Pantokrator in the apse of the Cathedral of Cefalù, Sicily, Italy

This mosaic in the apse of the Cathedral of Cefalù on Sicily depicts Christ as pantokrator (derived from Greek: Χριστὸς Παντοκράτωρ, meaning "all-powerful" or "almighty"). This specific presentation of Christ in Christian iconography is linked to a largely Orthodox or Eastern Catholic theological conception. It shows Christ as an almighty judge, looking upon humanity both mildly and sternly. The mosaics in the Cathedral of Cefalù were carried out by byzantine artists between 1145 and 1148.
